New EU Circular Economy Package To Tackle “Market Failures”

The European Commission has identified market failures as a “barrier” that they will need to address as a part of their work around producing a revised set of circular economy policies.

A roadmap document for the upcoming circular economy has said it will tackle problems by looking at the “whole value chain, rather than focusing exclusively on one part of the economic cycle”.

The roadmap overall seemed to indicate a continued focus upon recycling targets and creating effective waste management legislation for each EU country, but discussion of “market failures” and some of the larger systemic issues is crucial in creating an effective circular economy package of policies.
